Brisbane Skeptic Society was founded in 2014 primarily for the organisation of the first Brisbane Skepticamp. The society was formed with the aims of furthering the causes of skepticism, science education and critical thinking for its members and the general public at large. The society achieves its goals through a variety of methods, the society organises several social events each month “Skeptics in the Pub“, these events are friendly gatherings of like-minded skeptics and critical thinkers who share conversation over a meal and a few drinks. Brisbane Skeptic society organises free educational conferences throughout the year in the form of Skepticamp events in various locations in South East Queensland, with the largest being in July in Brisbane. The society also organises lecture nights and quiz show entertainment evenings amongst other types of events.

As well as organising social and educational events the society produces a monthly podcast focusing on skeptical and scientific issues primarily from the Brisbane area as well as Australia. To further achieve the goal of advancing science and critical thinking education the society provides scholarships to educational events for local students and plans to provide educational workshops for school age children.
