The Brisbane Skeptic Society has an absolutely huge month ahead! This month we launched the Skepticism Queensland website, dedicated to help bring skeptics together in QLD and Northern NSW, BSS wants to give your group the resources to get up and running! Ipswich Skeptics in the Pub is taking place on Thursday 13th of November with a yet to be announced new location! Chermside Skeptics in the Pub will be taking place on Wednesday 26th of November just before the Australian Skeptics National Convention.
The national convention is taking place from November 28th to the 30th. A strong contingent of BSS members will be attending the event as well as skeptics from all over the country. Special guests of the convention include The SGU, George Hrab, Michael Marshall and Dr Karl. Speaking of Michael Marshall he will be visiting us in Brisbane on December 1st to give a presentation at Toombul Shire Hall. And as if that wasn’t enough James Randi will grace our city on December 4th at the BCEC.
We have teamed up with event organisers Think Inc. to give away a pair of tickets to the event. (The competition is now closed, congrats to Nick who won the tickets!)
As if all that isn’t enough; planning in now under way on Skepticamp Gold Coast which will take place in February, and Skepticamp Brisbane which will be held again in July. We are already working on our Learning in the Pub guests as well as a number of other very exciting projects. If you want to help support all the work Brisbane Skeptic Society is doing consider becoming a member!
In sad news last month, long time friend of the Society Mick Sievers passed away. We honoured his memory at the Chermside Skeptics in the Pub. We’re going to miss his presence greatly, may his atoms find a new and exciting corner of the universe.
